The mental health CBT is designed to assess whether you can competently apply your professional mental health nursing skills and knowledge in the United Kingdom (UK).
This is so NMC can be sure that you’re able to deliver the high standards of care expected from the mental health nurses on the NMC register. To practice as a registered mental health nurse in the UK overseas nurses to complete two stages.
Part 1 is a computer-based test (CBT) and Part 2 OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) exam it is a practical-based test. In the United Kingdom mental health is considered a unique and specific area of practice and it requires three years of mental health training. As you are an overseas trained nurse you can also register as an MH nurse in the UK if you have completed nursing that includes mental health nursing practice.
